Injections & Orthobiologics in East Texas

Injections can be useful tools when they are matched to the diagnosis and used as part of a broader plan. They are not a substitute for understanding why pain is present.

Common reasons patients ask about injections

  • Joint inflammation or arthritis pain
  • Shoulder or knee pain limiting activity
  • Symptoms that have not improved with basic treatment
  • Desire to reduce pain enough to participate in therapy
  • Questions about steroid, viscosupplement, PRP, or other options

How options are evaluated

  • Diagnosis, imaging, medical history, and prior response to treatment
  • Discussion of expected benefit, limitations, timing, and risks
  • Review of whether an injection supports the larger recovery plan
  • Consideration of diabetes, blood thinners, infection risk, and upcoming surgery

Nonsurgical treatment options

  • Rehabilitation, activity modification, medications, bracing, and education
  • Corticosteroid or other injections when appropriate
  • Orthobiologic discussions when evidence, cost, and goals are clearly reviewed
  • Follow-up to judge whether the plan is actually helping

When procedures may be considered

  • When pain blocks recovery or daily function and the diagnosis supports an injection
  • When surgery is not preferred or not yet appropriate
  • When the expected benefit is realistic and the patient understands uncertainty

Recovery expectations

  • Response varies by diagnosis and injection type
  • Some injections are intended for symptom relief, not structural healing
  • Patients should follow individualized post-injection activity guidance
