About
Dr. John Clinton Fisher III, MD MBA provides expert, evidence-based care for the full spectrum of musculoskeletal injuries. His approach blends precision surgery with personalized rehabilitation to restore strength, motion, and confidence. From arthroscopic sports procedures to advanced reconstructive techniques, every patient receives modern, compassionate care designed to get them back to the life they love.
Dr. Fisher is proud to serve patients throughout Athens and Tyler, Texas, performing surgeries in both communities with a primary office in Athens. A native of East Texas, Dr. Fisher brings a grounded, hands-on perspective to his surgical practice—one shaped as much by his years as a commercial electrician in Austin as by his extensive medical training. That early career taught him the value of craftsmanship, precision, and problem-solving—traits that now define his approach in the operating room.
Dr. Fisher earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas, graduating cum laude with business certification through the McCombs School of Business. He went on to complete both his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration in Health Organization Management at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he served as Class President.
Following medical school, Dr. Fisher completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, where he was recognized with multiple Resident Research Awards and authored several peer-reviewed publications. He is currently completing a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Steadman Hawkins of the Carolinas, specializing in advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, knee, and hip.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Fisher and his wife, Brooke, and their three children—John Austin, Emma Belle, and Bryce—enjoy an active East Texas lifestyle filled with fishing, golf, and time outdoors with family and friends.
